cloud platforms

Build security into your cloud from the start.

We design and implement the controls that protect your cloud platforms, identities and data. Security becomes part of how your environment is built and changed, not a review at the end.

Overview

Security Engineering (Cloud & Identity)

Security Engineering (Cloud & Identity) helps organizations protect their cloud platforms, identities and data by implementing security controls that are built in, automated and consistent.

We assess your current configurations, access and delivery pipelines, then implement the controls that reduce the most risk first. These include secure cloud configuration, centralized identity, privileged access, pipeline security and data protection, all delivered as code.

The result is a security baseline that scales with your cloud environment and gives you clear evidence that controls are working.

Who this is for

  • Security and IT leaders responsible for growing cloud environments
  • Organizations with fragmented identities across cloud, SaaS and on-premises systems
  • Engineering teams that need security checks built into delivery pipelines
  • Businesses preparing for audits that require evidence of technical controls

What gets in the way

Challenges this service addresses

  • Cloud misconfigurations

Open storage, excessive network access and unmanaged accounts appear faster than teams can find and fix them manually.

  • Excessive and unmanaged access

Users, administrators and service accounts hold more permissions than they need, and access is rarely reviewed or removed.

  • Fragmented identity landscape

Separate directories and logins across cloud, SaaS and on-premises systems create gaps and a poor user experience.

  • Security outside the delivery process

Code, containers and infrastructure changes reach production before security checks run, so issues are found late.

  • Limited evidence for audits

Controls exist in policy documents, but proving they are implemented and working consistently takes significant manual effort.

What we do

Capabilities

Each capability can be scoped on its own or combined into a larger programme of work.

Capability 01

Cloud Security Posture

Assess and harden your cloud environments, then keep them compliant with automated policies and continuous checks.

  • Security posture assessment
  • Configuration hardening
  • Policy as code
  • Continuous compliance checks

Capability 02

Identity & Access Management

Implement centralized identity, single sign-on and strong authentication across cloud, SaaS and on-premises systems.

  • Directory consolidation
  • Single sign-on
  • Multi-factor authentication
  • Access lifecycle automation

Capability 03

Privileged Access & Zero Trust

Restrict administrative access and apply zero trust principles so every user, device and connection is verified.

  • Privileged access management
  • Just-in-time access
  • Conditional access policies
  • Network segmentation

Capability 04

Pipeline & Workload Security

Add automated security checks to delivery pipelines and protect containers and workloads at runtime.

  • Code and dependency scanning
  • Infrastructure as code scanning
  • Container image security
  • Secrets management

Capability 05

Data Protection & Security Logging

Protect sensitive data with encryption and key management, and centralize the security logs that monitoring depends on.

  • Encryption and key management
  • Data classification controls
  • Backup protection
  • Centralized security logging

What changes

Business outcomes

  • Reduced exposure from misconfiguration and excessive access
  • Simpler, more secure sign-in for users
  • Security that keeps pace with delivery speed
  • Audit-ready evidence of technical controls
  • A consistent security baseline across cloud providers

How we work

Our approach

  1. 1 Assess Review cloud configurations, identities and pipelines against recognized security benchmarks and your policies.
  2. 2 Design Define the target controls, identity architecture and priorities, focusing first on the highest risks.
  3. 3 Build Implement controls as code and integrate them with your platforms, pipelines and identity systems.
  4. 4 Test Validate that controls work as intended without disrupting users, applications or delivery.
  5. 5 Launch Roll out in stages, document controls and hand over to your team or a managed service.

Why Hinkor

How we back that up

  • Risk-first prioritization

We address the controls that reduce the most risk first, rather than attempting every improvement at once.

  • Controls delivered as code

Policies, configurations and guardrails are version-controlled, so they are repeatable, reviewable and easy to evidence.

  • Security without slowing delivery

We design controls with your engineering teams, so protection fits into how they already build and release.

  • Engineering, not just recommendations

We implement and test the controls ourselves, and leave your team with documentation to maintain them.

Cloud Security Posture Assessment

Review your cloud configurations against security benchmarks and receive prioritized remediation actions.

Identity & Access Review

Assess identities, permissions and authentication methods, and identify the highest-risk access to address first.

FAQ

Questions about Security Engineering (Cloud & Identity)

If your question is not here, ask it directly.

Ask a direct question
Where should we start with cloud security?

Most organizations start with a posture assessment and an access review. These show the misconfigurations and excessive permissions that create the most risk, and give you a prioritized list of controls to implement first.

Will new controls disrupt users or delivery teams?

We test every control before rollout and introduce changes in stages, starting in monitoring mode where possible. Engineering teams are involved in the design, so controls fit existing workflows.

Do you work across multiple cloud providers?

Yes. We work with AWS, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and apply a consistent security baseline across them. Where possible, we use each provider's native security services alongside your existing tools.

How is this different from Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance Advisory?

Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance Advisory defines your security strategy, policies and compliance approach. Security Engineering implements the technical controls that put those policies into practice in your cloud, identity and delivery environments.

Who monitors security after the controls are in place?

Each engagement includes documentation and enablement for your team. Ongoing threat monitoring and incident response can be handled by your team or through our Managed Security (SOC) service, using the logging we put in place.
