engineering applications

Connect your systems so processes flow.

We design and build the APIs and integrations that let your applications, partners and data work together. Information moves reliably between systems, without manual re-entry or fragile workarounds.

Overview

Integration & API Engineering

Integration & API Engineering helps organizations connect their applications, partners and data so business processes run smoothly across systems.

We assess your integration landscape, define clear patterns and standards, then build secure, documented APIs and integrations. Event-driven and real-time approaches are used where systems need to react quickly, and every integration includes monitoring and error handling.

The result is reliable data flow between systems, less manual work and faster delivery of new connections.

Who this is for

  • IT leaders managing many applications that do not share data
  • Organizations relying on file transfers and point-to-point connections
  • Businesses exchanging orders, invoices or data with partners and suppliers
  • Teams that need to expose services securely to customers or partners

What gets in the way

Challenges this service addresses

  • Point-to-point complexity

Each new connection is built separately, creating a tangled web of integrations that is hard to change.

  • Manual data re-entry

Staff re-key orders, customer details or invoices between systems, causing delays and errors.

  • Integration failures go unnoticed

When an integration fails, nobody is alerted, and problems surface only when users or customers complain.

  • Slow partner onboarding

Connecting each new supplier, customer or channel takes weeks of custom work.

  • Unsecured or undocumented APIs

APIs are built without consistent security, versioning or documentation, increasing risk and limiting reuse.

What we do

Capabilities

Each capability can be scoped on its own or combined into a larger programme of work.

Capability 01

Integration Strategy & Architecture

Assess your integration landscape and design a target architecture with clear patterns, standards and platforms.

  • Integration landscape assessment
  • Target architecture and patterns
  • Platform selection
  • Integration standards

Capability 02

API Design & Development

Design and build secure, documented and versioned APIs that applications, partners and customers can reuse.

  • API design and specifications
  • API development
  • Versioning and documentation
  • API testing

Capability 03

Application Integration

Connect ERP, CRM, ITSM and custom applications so data and transactions flow automatically between them.

  • Enterprise application integration
  • Integration platform implementation
  • Data mapping and transformation
  • Error handling and retries

Capability 04

Event-Driven & Real-Time Integration

Use events and messaging so systems react to business changes as they happen, without tight coupling.

  • Event architecture design
  • Message queues and streaming
  • Webhooks and notifications
  • Real-time synchronization

Capability 05

API Management & B2B Integration

Secure, publish and monitor APIs, and connect partners through standard B2B formats and protocols.

  • API gateway and security
  • Developer portal
  • EDI and partner integration
  • Integration monitoring

What changes

Business outcomes

  • Business processes that flow across systems
  • Less manual re-entry and fewer data errors
  • Faster onboarding of partners and applications
  • Reusable APIs that speed up new initiatives
  • Early alerts when integrations fail

How we work

Our approach

  1. 1 Assess Map your applications, existing integrations and data flows, and agree priority processes.
  2. 2 Design Define integration patterns, API specifications, data mappings and error handling.
  3. 3 Build Develop APIs and integrations in iterations, using reusable components and standards.
  4. 4 Test Validate end-to-end flows, volumes, failure scenarios and security with real data.
  5. 5 Launch Deploy with monitoring and alerts, then hand over to your team or our support service.

Why Hinkor

How we back that up

  • Reuse over point-to-point

We design APIs and integrations as reusable assets, so each new connection takes less effort than the last.

  • Failure handling designed in

Every integration includes error handling, retries and alerts, so issues are caught before they affect the business.

  • Platform-neutral advice

We work across leading integration platforms and recommend the one that fits your landscape and skills.

  • Application knowledge on both ends

Our enterprise application teams understand the systems being connected, not just the integration layer.

FAQ

Questions about Integration & API Engineering

If your question is not here, ask it directly.

Ask a direct question
Do we need an integration platform?

Not always. A small number of connections can be built directly. As integrations grow, a platform provides reuse, monitoring and security. We assess your landscape and recommend the simplest approach that will scale.

How is this different from Data Platforms & Engineering?

Integration & API Engineering connects applications so they exchange data in real time to run business processes. Data Platforms & Engineering collects data from those applications for analytics, reporting and AI.

When should we use RPA instead of integration?

Direct integration through APIs is usually more reliable and is preferred where available. RPA suits systems without suitable APIs, or where a fast solution is needed before a longer-term integration is built.

Can you connect our systems with partners and suppliers?

Yes. We build partner integrations using APIs, EDI and secure file transfer, depending on what each partner supports, and standardize onboarding so new partners connect faster.

Who supports integrations after launch?

Each integration is handed over with monitoring, alerts and documentation. Your team can support it, or ongoing support can be provided through Application Management & Support.
